Introduction to the concepts of designing accessible web based materials
to be more accessible to people with disabilities. Participants need to have
experience in developing and publishing web materials.
Students will learn:
- How people with disabilities view the web
- W3C recommendations and Federal 508 Standards for accessibility
- HTML, CSS and other W3C formats support for accessibility
- PDF and Flash support for accessibility
- How authoring tools support for accessible web design
- Multimedia accessibility
- Use of XML and XSLT to create multiple views
- HTML and other formats
Students will work on a semester project related to disability access and the web.
